- Ultra Registrars was established in early 2000 by Manie Boonzaaier and Polly Pollard after Computershare acquired the businesses of Optimum Registrars and Consolidated Share Registrars
- Mercantile Registrars held a 45% shareholding in Ultra Registrars and provided its share transfer system to Ultra Registrars on a bureau basis
- When Computershare acquired the business of Mercantile Registrars in 2002, the Competition Commission ruled that Computershare was compelled to dispose of Mercantile Registrars' shareholding in Ultra Registrars
- Computershare disposed of the shareholding in July 2003
- Link Market Services Limited, the second largest share registrar in Australia, acquired control of Ultra Registrars in March 2006
- Name changed to Link Market Services South Africa (Pty) Limited in May 2006
